Der Beitrag befasst sich mit dokumentarästhetischen Praktiken panoramatischer Registratur. Ausgehend von digitaltechnologischen Innovationen der Bildakquise und Bildnutzung werden aktuelle Formen von «location awareness» und bildbasiertem «mapping» analysiert. Interaktiv steuerbare Streamingvideos von CNN («Haiti 360°») und eine Filmforschungsarbeit des Sensory Ethnography Labs («People's Park») stehen dabei im Mittelpunkt.

The Twelfth Surface. Streaming, Mapping, Stitching Places; On Haiti 360° and People’s Park

This article examines documentary practices of panoramic image acquisition. Beginning with a discussion of innovations in digital technology and their relevance for image recording and image use, the article then analyses contemporary forms of 'location awareness' and image-based 'mapping'. The analysis focusses on 'Haiti 360°', a series of interactive, immersive videos by CNN, and 'People's Park', a filmic research project by the Sensory Ethnography Labs.
