Rechentechnische Reparaturkompetenz

Der vorliegende Text nimmt die Rechentechnik der DDR vor dem Hintergrund eines informationstechnologischen Reparaturwissens in den Blick. Dabei soll es weniger um kommunikationstechnologische Aspekte gehen, die beispielsweise die Entwicklung der Rechentechnik aus dem Bereich des Funkwesens heraus fokussieren könnte, sondern vielmehr um das Wissen im Bereich der Rechentechnik als Technologie des (wissenschaftlichen) Alltags. Das Ziel ist es dabei, aufzuzeigen, dass das Reparaturwissen im Bereich der Rechentechnik in der DDR als Voraussetzung für kreative und innovative Herangehensweisen diente, die eine Entwicklung der Digital Humanities begünstigte.

Computational Repair Expertise. From state-ordered technical progress to the development of the Digital Humanities

The essay examines the computing technology of the GDR against the background of information-technological «repair knowledge.» It focuses less on aspects of communication technology—which might, for instance, ask about the development of computing technology from the field of radio—and rather on this knowledge in the domain of computing technology as a technology of (scientific) everyday life. The aim is to show that the know-how of repairing in the field of computing technology in the GDR served as a prerequisite for creative and innovative approaches that favored the development of the digital humanities.
