Indem die Podcasts Serial und Undisclosed in ihrer Rekonstruktion eines Kriminalfalls auf polizeiliche und juridische Dokumente zurückgreifen, wird nicht nur deren Beweiskraft verhandelt, sondern implizit auch die transkriptive Logik des Protokolls untersucht. Analyzing the popular cultural phenomenon of true crime, the article examines the relationship between writing, voice, and the transcript as a medium of law. In drawing on police and legal documents in reconstructing criminal cases, the podcasts Serial and Undisclosed not only negotiate the evidential value of these sources, but also implicitly examine the translative logic of transcripts. Furthermore, the provision of investigation files as digital collections allows them to be used by recipients for conflicting and critical readings that proceed by appropriating techniques of the transcript.
