Bhattacharya, Nilanjan
Nilanjan Bhattacharya is a documentary filmmaker, artist, writer and a scavenger of knowledge who lives between Leipzig and Kolkata. For many years, he has been exploring the Indigenous knowledge about biodiversity and food in India and produced several films and installations. Twice (2005 & 2010) he received the National Film Award of India. His works have been widely exhibited in India and internationally. Nilanjan co-curated (with Araine Beyn and Jörn Schafaff) Beyond Migration, a transnational exchange project on migration in India, Japan and South Africa. His 3-channel video installation, Who Looks at Whom is part of the permanent exhibition in the GRASSI Museum für Völkerkunde zu Leipzig. He is now developing an art project on sustainability, which is supported by the Goethe Institut Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata. www.nilanjanbhatta.wordpress.com.
