Zielinski, Ger

Ger Zielinski lectures and writes on new media and cinema at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada. He received his PhD from McGill University, where he researched the history and cultural politics of LGBT film festivals. He co-founded the research hub Film and Media Festivals Scholarly Interest Group in the Society for Cinema and Media Studies (SCMS) and directs the Toronto Film and Media Festivals Research Group. He has been a visiting researcher or scholar at several institutions, including the Institut für Europäische Ethnologie at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, and the Center for Comparative Literature and Society at Columbia University. He is also the principal investigator of his research project «Buffering Online and Off: On Streaming Platforms, Creators, and the Turn to Embodied Festivality funded by a two-year SSHRC Insight Development Grant.
